History of Sangria: How this Delicious Drink Came into Existence
This history of this deliciously fruity cocktail that we enjoy today dates back to several centuries! It dates back to times of early Romans and Greeks, who used to drink called “Hippocras”, which, most probably, was the earliest ancestor of Sangria. However, it was banished for centuries when Islamic emperors conquered the Spanish peninsula, until the late 1400s.
Sangria literally translates to “blood” for the red wine, which is used to make this drink. It gained much popularity in England and France in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; however, the seeds for the present craze for Sangria in the US were sewn at around the mid-twentieth century. Although it’s mainly made for cocktails, yet, people all over the world have invented some of the most delectable mocktails with Sangria as well. Without further ado, let’s start with sangria mocktail recipes you can make right in your kitchen!
