The Best Cocktails You Can Make With Whiskey
Guava Mint Cocktail with Rye Whiskey
This is one cocktail that won’t make your guests feel guilty of “drinking alcohol”. Not only is it delicious, but it also brings with itself the goodness of guavas! Here’s how you can make it:
Ingredients
- 6-8 mint leaves
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 1 oz (about 30 ml) rye whiskey
- 2 oz (about 60 ml) guava juice
- 1 oz (about 30 ml) club soda
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- Ice cubes
How to Make
- Take a glass that can hold at least 150 ml. Crush the mint leaves a bit (not too much) and add them into the glass.
- Add club soda and sugar. Keep stirring till the sugar is dissolved.
- Pour guava juice, whiskey, and lemon juice into it. Keep stirring for 4-5 minutes. Your drink is ready to serve!
Masala Soda Cocktail

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp fresh lime or lemon juice
- 2 tbsp simple syrup
- 4 ounces (about 120 ml) chilled club soda
- 1/2 tsp jal jeera masala
- A pinch of black salt
- 1 1/2 ounces (About 45 ml) Whiskey
- 1 tbsp any flavoured syrup
How to Make
- The recipe is relatively straightforward to make – just blend everything in a glass (one by one). But, please note that black salt would make it a bit foamy, so gradually add it in small quantities, instead of adding all at once.
- Keep stirring till you see everything blended in, and your drink is ready to serve!
Paati’s Magic Rasam

Ingredients
- 60 ml whiskey (of your choice)
- 10 ml fresh lime juice
- 10 ml of sugar syrup
- 2 tbsp rasam powder
- 1 tbsp salt
- 8 curry leaves
- 2 green chillies
- 1-inch ginger
How to Make
- Start by mixing rasam powder with salt into a whiskey glass.
- Blend ginger, green chillies, and curry leaves in a blender.
- Pour lime juice and syrup into the blender. Finally, pour whiskey and mix well.
- You can garnish it with a chilli and serve it with ice!
Orange Cinnamon Whisky Smash
A perfect cocktail for the holiday parties! The fresh orange juice and cinnamon make for a delicious spiced drink.
Ingredients
- 1 Cinnamon stick – broken into small pieces
- 1/2 tsp orange zest - zest of half an orange (outer peel of an orange)
- 60 ml of whiskey
- 30 ml Orange juice
- Club Soda
- 1-2 Orange slices
How to Make
- Take a shaker and add the broken pieces of cinnamon into it. Start pouring orange juice, and slowly start adding whiskey alongside.
- Finally, pour some soda to fill up the glass, and add some orange slices, and some zest for garnishing. The drink is ready to rock!
Honey and Pear Whiskey Cocktail
Similar to a hot toddy, the honey and pear whiskey cocktail is light yet warming and comforting, perfect for a winter party.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces (about 60 ml) whiskey
- ½ ounce (about 15-20 ml) lemon juice
- ¼ ounce (about 7-10 ml)of honey syrup
- 1 ounce (about 30 ml) of pear juice
- Ice cubes
- Sliced pear + diced pear (for garnishing)
How to Make
- This recipe is also pretty simple to make. Just add all the ingredients (lemon juice, whiskey, honey syrup, and pear juice) into a shaker, mix well and pour it into a whiskey glass.
- Add some diced pear to the drink and some sliced pear on the top for garnishing. And of course, don’t forget to add ice!
Irish Coffee
Here’s something for those who can drink milkshakes and cold coffees at any time of the day -though don’t get us wrong, it’s whiskey cocktail only, and one of the smoothest ones you’d find in this list!
Ingredients
- 50 ml unsweetened, cold whipping cream
- 2 tbsp soft brown sugar
- 50 ml Irish whiskey
- 1 cup freshly brewed coffee
- Nutmeg to sprinkle (optional)
How to Make
- You’d require a taller glass for this, and it’s a bit tricky to make. Take whipping cream and keep whipping the cream till you see no bubbles, and it has started to thicken. Keep it back into the refrigerator.
- Preheat the glass by adding boiling, hot water into it, and throwing away the water.
- Take 2 tbsp hot water in a small pan, mix the sugar into it, and put it to boil. Add the coffee to this, and stir for a few minutes so that the coffee is properly mixed. Now, remove it from the heat and add whiskey to this mixture.
- Add this blend of coffee and whiskey to the pre-heated glass.
- Now, take out the whipped cream from the fridge, and very slowly add it to the top of the mixture (preferably by using a spoon or small-sized spatula to keep it afloat).
- Finally, garnish with nutmeg, and your Irish coffee is ready to satiate your thirst!
Notable Mention: Whiskey Chai
For those who can’t imagine their lives without their favourite cuppa tea, here’s something special for you!
Ingredients
- 2 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces
- 20 black peppercorns
- 16 whole cloves
- 8 cardamom pods, seeds removed from the pod
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
- 1-quart whole milk
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon loose black tea
- 3 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey
How to Make
- In a blender or spice grinder, mix all the spices until they become into a uniform powder.
- Take a saucepan, add milk to it, and put it on simmer gas. Keep it moderately-highly hot. Take it off the gas, and add sugar, spices, and tea to it.
- Pour this mixture into a large glass and stir this mixture well and leave the mixture for 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, wipe out your saucepan, as it would be required for the next step!
- Take that chai mixture, and again warm it over sim heat. Gradually pour in the whiskey (Keep it away from flames!), and your whiskey chai is ready to serve!
