Tulsi Kadha

This kadha works wonders for throat infections and will shows results within a day itself. It is also great as an immunity booster and helps improve digestion as well. It even flushes the toxins from the body.

Ingredients:

  • Tulsi leaves- 5
  • Ginger- ½ tsp; grated
  • Black pepper- ¼ tsp; crushed
  • Water- 2 cups
  • Jaggery/ honey- optional
  • Lemon juice- optional (one squeeze of 1/4th of a lemon)

Method:


Add water to a deep pan and heat it on medium to high heat. Add tulsi leaves, ginger, and black pepper. Boil for 10 minutes. Let it cool. Strain the liquid, add ½ tsp of honey or jaggery or a small squeeze of lime juice and serve.

Cinnamon Kadha

This easy to make kadha boosts strength and energy in the body and helps provide relief in cough and cold, and also sore throat.

Ingredients:

  • Water- 1 cup
  • Cinnamon powder- ½ tsp
  • Honey- 1 tsp (optional)

Method:

Add water to a deep pan and mix in cinnamon powder. Let it come to a boil. Turn off the heat and let it cool for a while. Add honey, mix, and drink. The kadha should not be too hot when adding honey.

Viral Infections Kadha

This kadha is an effective home remedy to provide relief from viral infections like cold, cough, and flu.

ingredients:

  • Tulsi leaves- 5
  • Ginger- 1 inch; peeled and crushed
  • Cinnamon stick- 2 inches
  • Cloves- 5-6
  • Black peppercorns- 5-6
  • Water- 2 cups
  • Honey/ Jaggery- 1 tsp (optional)

Method:


Add water to a deep pan. Place it on medium heat and add all ingredients except honey/ jaggery. Let it boil for 20 minutes (or until the liquid is reduced to half). Let it cool. Strain the liquid. Add honey/ jaggery and mix well. Serve.

Giloy Kadha

This kadha is good to boost immunity, fight flu, and help with digestion. It will also easily relieve any kind of throat infection. It requires just two ingredients.

  • Water- 1 cup
  • Giloy Guduchi - 1 tsp (Indian Tinospora)
Add water and giloy to a pan and boil for 2 minutes. Pour into a cup and serve hot.

Cumin Coriander and Fennel Kadha

This is another easy kadha recipe with three main ingredients in equal quantities. Apart from benefitting in cough and cold, it also helps in improving the digestive system.

Ingredients:

  • Water- 4 cups
  • Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
  • Coriander seeds- ½ tsp
  • Fennel seeds- ½ tsp
Add water to a deep pan and boil for 5 minutes. Add the remaining three ingredients, boil for 1 minute and turn off the heat. Let it sit for a minute, strain the mix, and serve.

Bonus Tip - Make a Kadha Powder

Apart from the above-mentioned recipes, prepare kadha masala powder and add ½ tsp of it to tea every day. The masala powder can be stored in an airtight jar for a while. Take cardamom (2 tbsp), dry ginger powder (3/4 cup), cinnamon sticks (3-5), cloves (1 tbsp), and peppercorns (2 tbsp). Dry in the sunlight for half an hour and grind into a fine powder.
