How to Reach Munnar?
#1 By Air
If you are travelling by air, the closest air terminal is the Cochin International Airport which is at a distance of around 125 km away from Munnar. The air terminal is connected with all the urban cities of India. You can hire a cab to Munnar once you arrive at Cochin airport. Cabs are available in the airport which can be easily accessed.
#2 By Train
Kochi or Ernakulam railway stations are the nearest ones to Munnar. You can book a train ticket from any part of the country to Kochi or Ernakulam. There is also another railway station called the Aluva railway station which is closer to Munnar. Once you reach any of these railway stations, either book a cab or travel by road to the beautiful hill station Munnar!
#3 By Road
The final journey to Munnar can only be completed via road. The most ideal approach to get to Munnar by street is by getting into state-run or private transports handled from different towns in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) gives transport administrations to Munnar from every single city in Kerala!

#1Attukad Waterfalls
In the ethereally beautiful hill station of Munnar is where we find the best waterfalls in God's own country Kerala! One such waterfall is the Attukad waterfall which lies in the western ghats mountains. It is located in the mountainous Idukki district on the way from Munnar to Pallivasal. Attukad waterfalls cascade down roaringly in a beautiful manner and make a thrilling spot to stop by. There is luscious greenery all around and this waterfall lies amidst the untouched nature. This waterfall is situated 9km from Munnar town and can be reached by car, by autorickshaw and by bus. The bus and auto-rickshaw transport options are cheaper compared to travelling by car. The entry fee for this waterfall is free. Ensure that you go to this waterfall early in the morning so that you can visit other places in the afternoon. If you plan on getting wet in the waterfall, carry your slippers and towels as they are not sold anywhere nearby.
#2 Pothamedu View Point

It is drenched in greenery and mist. It enables a panoramic view of the valley and sometimes, if the day is clear, one can also see the Muthirapuzha River and Idukki Arch Dam from quite the height. The viewpoint is filled with hill slopes where coffee, tea, cardamom and pepper trees are grown. While enjoying this mesmerizing view, enjoy the ginger tea from the only tea shop nearby and you will love spending your time at Pothamedu View Point. Often called the 'Kashmir of South India', Top Station is one of the places you must not miss witnessing! It is located around 32 km away from Munnar and it lies amidst three mountain streams. Being the highest point of Munnar, it derives its name from being the uppermost railway station in the Kundala Valley. It offers a panoramic vision of the Western Ghats and the Theni in Tamil Nadu. Once you reach the peak, you feel like you can almost reach out and touch the clouds! Top Station is also very popular for the Neelakurinji flowers which bloom once in twelve years adding a vibrant blue look to the destination! It is also famous for its tea gardens where you can take a stroll and learn about its cultivation from the locals. Reaching Top station from Munnar is fairly simple. Just hire a private car, book a taxi or board a local bus and you will reach your destination within no time! There is no entry fee to go to this mesmerizing place. The best time to visit Top Station, Munnar is during October and November and again from January to April.
#4 Kundala Lake
Kundala Lake, located at an altitude of 1700 kms from above sea level, is a must-stop tourist location for wanderlust tourists. It is the host to cherry flowers twice a year and the world-famous Neelakurinji flowers once every twelve years. Kundala Lake is open 24x7. There is no best time to visit the lake but the lake receives a maximum amount of tourists during the monsoons!
#5 Eravikulam National Park
Eravikulam National Park, also known as the Rajamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, is located at a drive of 45 mins from the City Center of Munnar and is situated atop the summit of Western Ghats. Spread around the land of 97 Kms, it is considered as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the most sought out tourist hotspots of Kerala. Eravikulam National Park is a massive blend of wildlife. In it, there are around 132 species of birds, 101 species of butterflies, 19 amphibian species, 26 mammalian species and 20 different orchid species. Nilgiri langur, Atlas moth, Nilgiri marten, small-clawed otter, Lion-tailed macaque, and a rare variety of the leopard and lion are some of the main wildlife to be spotted here. The best time to visit Eravikulam National Park is between September and October and then again from April to May. The park opens at sharp 7:30 am in the morning and closes at 4:00 pm in the evening. The cost of a ticket for an Indian adult is Rs 125 and for an Indian child is Rs 95 and for a foreign national it is Rs 420. If you are carrying a regular camera with you, you need to pay a sum of Rs 45 and if it is a video camera, the charge is Rs 335.
#6 Photo Point
Photo Point is a curve on the Nilgiri Slopes and is located at a distance of around 3 km from Munnar on the way to Top Station and Mattupetti. If you think this place has nothing to offer, just come out of your vehicle, get clicked and then you will come to know how photogenic this place truly is! The tea garden, the brooks, the floating clouds and the plains-- everything captured in just one picture looks amazing. It is a truly amazing place to take your DSLR's out and it is one of the best tourist places in Munnar. The timings are 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and there is no entry fee to go to the photo point!
#7 Lakkom Water Falls
Lakkom waterfalls/ Lakkam waterfalls are a part of Eravikulam National Park and it falls on the route to Udumalaipettai from Munnar. It originates from the Eravikulam stream around 30 km off Munnar and you can travel all along the waterfall as every inch of it is covered with mother nature. The water in the pool below is so clear that you can even see your toes dwindling on the rocks! The water originates from a lush green forest and the sight of this is very spellbinding. There is a small shop situated nearby where you can get Kerala delicacies like fish, sambhar, rice etc. If you are in Munnar, you must definitely see this spellbinding place! The fee to enter this waterfalls is Rs 20. The timings to visit this waterfall is from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

A photographer's delight and a trekker's paradise -- Anamudi-- the highest peak in Southern India. Anamudi peak is situated in the Western Ghats in the district of Idukki, Kerala. The peak does not experience any snowfall even though it is the highest peak because it is in a subtropical region. It is called the Everest of South India. In colloquial language, Anamudi means "Elephant's head". Anamudi is covered with dense evergreen forests and rivers and is home to a wide variety of animals and birds. This peak is famous for adventurous activities like trekking and hiking. The best time to visit the Anamudi peak is from November to May. The peak is open to visitors every day from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
