DIY Bathroom Cleaning Solutions You Can Make Easily at Home
A good tile cleaner is what you need to maintain your tiles sparkling clean. There are many products available in the stores, but they usually have chemicals that are not good for your health. Although these cleaners clean your tiles, perhaps a much better option would be homemade cleaning solutions that are not only eco-friendly, but will also give a sparkly look to your tiles.
Baking Soda
If you are looking for a natural cleaning agent to brighten up the tiles in your bathroom then baking soda is a great solution. Baking soda is combined with other ingredients to make this cleaning solution.

Lemon juice is acidic and hence effectively cleans the tiles. It does not leave a pungent smell like vinegar.
Procedure:

- Spray the juice on the tiles and allow it to sit for couple of minutes. Wipe the surface with a damp cloth.
- The combination of lemon juice and baking soda is also effective to clean the tiles. Sprinkle some baking soda on the tiles before spraying with lemon juice.

Hydrogen Peroxide
If there are stubborn stains on the tiles that do not come off easily then you will need an intensive approach to tackle this problem. However, you don’t have to rush to buy toxic and harsh chemicals. Just open your medicine cabinet and pick the brown bottle of hydrogen peroxide. This eco-friendly approach is widely used, especially to remove stains on the tiles and other surfaces.

- It effectively removes stains from the tiles and soap scrum from doors and mirrors.
Tips to Clean Bathroom Tiles
Keep the following tips in mind when cleaning bathroom tiles:
- Clean a Little Each Day – Do small cleaning tasks like wiping the counters, or sink or tile backsplash or spot-cleaning the mirror. This daily cleaning will keep your bathroom fresh. This way, your weekly cleaning gets easier and more efficient.
- Preheat Tiles – Splash hot water on tiles, especially those with stains. Fill the sink and bathtub with hot water and let it sit until you wipe mirror and other surfaces. The hot water will loosen the grime and the alkaline cleaners will make cleaning effective.
- Spread the Cleaning Solution Evenly – While cleaning tiles, you must spread the cleaning solution evenly across the grout and tiles. Use a soft cloth or sponge to do this.
- Do Not Rush – Leave the cleaning solution to sit on the tiles for at least 10 minutes to remove the grime. Do not wipe the cleaner immediately after spraying it on the surface.
- Start from Top – Always start from the top and work downwards. This way, you do not have to clean the dirt that runs down from the already cleaned surface.
- Scrub the Tiles – After allowing the cleaner to sit for some time, scrub the surface. However, use a proper scrubbing tool depending on the hardness of the tiles. You can use non-scratch pad or softer scrub to clean the tiles.
- Rinse and Dry – After scrubbing the tiles rinse with hot water from top to down. Dry the tiles with a towel or open the windows and doors. The airflow will also prevent mildew and mould build up.
