Till today during Durga Puja in West Bengal, the banana tree is wrapped in a saree and adorned with vermillion and is laced on the right side of Lord Ganesha as his wife, and without taking the 'Banana Bride' or 'Kola Bou' to the Ganges for a shower, Durga Puja does not begin.
