  • Horse gram: half cup
  • Curry leaves: 1 sprig
  • Peppercorn: 1 Tablespoon 
  • Oil: 2 teaspoons 
  • Coriander leaves: 1 sprig
  • Mustard seeds: ½ Tablespoon
  • Tamarind paste: 2 teaspoons 
  • Cumin seeds: 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt

Recipe:

  • Add Horse Gram to a bowl and fill it with water.
  • Let it soak overnight.The next morning, cook it in a pressure cooker till it is soft.You’ll notice the color of the water to be chocolatey. Drain the water and don’t throw it away.Add cumin seeds, peppercorn, and mustard seeds to the utensil and dry roast them.
  • Grind them in a grinder.Divide horse gram into 2 and mash one of them.
  •   Add oil and fry curry leaves in a pan.
  • Now add the tamarind paste, roasted powder (from the grinder), mashed horse gram, strained water, and salt.Make sure to dilute the gravy with adequate water.Add the 2nd part of horse gram and mix.
  • Turn off the gas and sprinkle coriander leaves.Best served with rice.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup horse gram1 Tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • red chili powder1 chopped tomato, onion, and
  • coriander leaves (for garnishing)1 tbsp ghee1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste½ tsp mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and ¼ tsp asafoetidaSalt

Recipe:

  • Add water to the bowl and add horse gram to it. Leave it overnight.Add 3 cups of water to a pressure cooker and add drained horse gram to it.
  • Start boiling and add turmeric powder and some salt. Wait for 4-6 whistles then, turn it off.
  • Put a pan on medium flame. Add ghee, cumin, and mustard seed.Then, put asafoetida in it and after a few seconds, add ginger garlic paste.
  • Cook it for a moment and you’ll notice an aroma leaving it.Add onion and cook it until it’s translucent.
  • Now, add tomatoes, coriander powder, red chilly powder, and salt (if necessary).Put a lid on it and leave for a few minutes.Put the horse gram into it and mix it. Put the lid back and leave for another few minutes.Once done, sprinkle some coriander leaves.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup horse gram 
  • 5 cups of water
  • sliced ginger
  • 1 chopped onion
  • coriander leaves

  • Soak horse gram in a bowl overnight.Soak rice in 2 cups of water for 1-2 hours.
  • Take a pressure cooker and add soaked horse gram, turmeric powder, chilly powder, sliced ginger, 3 cups of water, and salt in it.
  • Cook it on a low flame for half-hour.Once it’s well-cooked, add rice to it.Separately, sauté chopped onion and then, add it to the cooker.
  • Add ghee and cover the lid and cook for 4-6 whistles.Sprinkle some coriander leaves and serve hot.

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder and garam masala,
  • ½ cumin powder, and some chilly powder
