The fact that the mosque is established on four columns which are 56m high helped this structure find its name of Charminar. Salar Jung Museum

It barely takes 5 minutes to reach Salar Jung Museum from Charminar as it is located only 1.6km away from the site. This museum is also located on the bank of Musi River and it is also included in one of the three museums of India, too.

Inaugurated in 1951, this museum is quite historic and boasts of a collection of carvings, textiles, ceramics, manuscripts, sculptures, paintings and a lot of other things. This museum has marvellous pieces of not only India but of other countries too, like Japan, Europe, North America, Persia, and many others.

Counted amongst one of the largest museums in India, this is a must-visit place in Hyderabad. You can visit it after 10 am and there is an entry fee for this place, as well.

Chowmahalla Palace

Thankfully, this is going to be another quick ride for you as Chowmahalla Palace is located only 10 min away from Salar Jung Museum. The meaning of Chowmahalla is four palaces and the place is exactly like that. This palace used to be the official residence of Nizams of Hyderabad and currently, it is open for public, too.

Despite being 200 years old, this palace remains in its prime because of the timely restoration work. The major highlight of this palace remains Grand Khilwat which is a huge Durbar Hall in this palace.

Currently, this palace is spread across an area of 12 acres and this huge property is a sight to behold for the tourists and visitors here. You need so much time to explore this palace which is divided into Northern and Southern Courtyard. It remains open from 10 am to 5 pm from Saturday to Thursday and there is an entry fee too.

One of the best places to visit in Hyderabad in 2 days would be Taj Falaknuma Palace which is about 5km away from Chowmahalla Palace. It is not open for the general public and you would have to book a tour for it where you will be taken to this place in the evening to have some tea.

This is the time when you can visit this palace too. It used to be a grand palace privately owned by one of the Nizams but later on, it got restored and converted into a 5-star hotel by Taj Group of Hotels.

The entire architecture of this palace is simply stunning and covers an area of 1,011,500 square feet. It has so many different sections like Zenana Mahal, Gol Bangla, Harem Quarters, etc.

Day 2 at Hyderabad (Religious and other places)

Golconda Fort

For Day 2, start your journey with Golconda Fort. This is located a bit outside of Hyderabad and would take less than half an hour to reach. Very few people know that Golconda was the place which produced some of the greatest gems of all time like Kohinoor, Hope Diamond, Noor-ul-ain, etc..

So, the fort remains open for public from 8 am to 5.30pm and we would suggest you visit it first thing in the morning when the weather also remains pleasant and nice.

There is an entry fee for tourists here and you surely need a few hours to visit this fort completely and click some amazing pictures here. However, if you want to see the light and sound show here then you should visit Golconda Fort by evening.

Mecca Masjid

The next place to visit in Hyderabad would be Mecca Masjid and for this, you would have to come back to the center of the city from Golconda Fort which is a journey of 11km. What draws people’s attention towards this Masjid is the fact that it is one of the largest mosques in India with a capacity of 20,000 people.

It was built between 16th and 17th century and has special importance for Muslim people in the country. This mosque remains open from 4 am to 9.30pm and there is no entry fee for it.

Birla Temple

Birla Mandir is a very popular tourist spot in Hyderabad because of its location. It is located on a 280 feet high hillock called Naubath Pahad and the temple looks really picturesque. It took about 10 works for its construction and was finally opened for public in 1976.

This temple is constructed by Birla Foundation and you can find more such Birla Mandir across the country. What makes this temple special is its architectural designs reflects Utkala, Dravidian and Rajasthani form of architecture. Apart from the main temple of Lord Venkateshwara in the temple, there are different shrines allocated to different Hindu gods. There is no entry fee for this place and you can visit it from 7 am to 12 pm and then from 3 pm to 9pm.

Taramati Baradari

Another one to be included amongst the places to visit in Hyderabad in 2 days is Taramati Baradari. This is not just another place in Hyderabad but a historical Sarai which used to be a popular place to relax by the travellers in the earlier times.

It is a part of Ibrahim Bagh which is a Persian style garden. The entire surrounding of this place is simply incredible and you will feel extremely relaxed here.
